There is no balance in life. You have to make a choice.
Everything is a choice.
Will I get up early or sleep in?
Will I go to work or take a sick day?
We fool ourselves in to thinking we have to balance things. As if measuring were the way to living.
30% time working
35% time spent with the family
15% social activity
5% household activities
Do we really think we can measure time and put it into these categories and come away with quality of life?
There is no balance in life. It’s all a matter of exchange.
What are you exchanging in this moment for something else? Is one greater than the other? Is one more urgent? Does one make you feel better but the other a necessity?
Reading this post is an exchange for your time. Of which I sincerely thank you. I know your time is precious. And spending these few moments with me is an honor and a privilege. So again I thank you with every cell of my existence.
And I leave you with this….
There are 3.5 months left in 2016. Have you accomplished what you set out to achieve for this year? Have you experienced joy and happiness in abundant amounts? Have you told your loved ones they are important? Has your business achieved massive success?
Each moment is a choice to give something of value or to waste. The choice is yours.
So what will you do. Will you write the next NY Times bestseller? Will you be the next Hollywood star? Will you take a trip to Bali? Will start a meditation practice? Will you showcase your art in a gallery?
It’s all up to you to determine the direction of your life. No one tells you that the choices are crucial. As we go along through life some people learn early that they can do whatever they choose. But some of us get stuck living by other people’s rules and get distracted from our choices and live according to someone else’s. Whether it is parental rules, corporate rules, society rules, or even cultural rules, we get to determine which rules apply to us.
Now let’s not get confused. I am not saying you shouldn’t listen to family or cultural rules or whatever, I’m not advocating for anarchy. However, I am advocating for you to take a stance and determine which rules you actually want to accept as a choice instead of by blind acceptance. As a Baha’i internal investigation of the truth is important to me. It means that it is up to me to decide what I will live by. And that includes everything in my life.
Let’s explore that a little more.
If you are investigating how you will live your life, what do you want out of your life?
Are you looking for freedom?
Are you looking for community?
Are you looking for clarity in life?
Then go for it. Don’t wait. There is only a short time in life and we don’t realize it until it is too late. Do you really want to be the person who next year says I should have taken that vacation? No one ever looks back on life and says I did too much.
Amazing and world renowned author, Paulo Coelho says, “”How much I missed, simply because I was afraid of missing it.” If this guy who has written tons of books and music and had an incredible journey in life is saying it, what will you say 5 years from now?
What keeps us back from doing what we want? Fear? Lack of skills? Inability to locate resources? I’m sure there are many more things that could hold us back but really the only thing standing in our way is ourselves. If we really wanted to do something there is nothing that can hold us back.
We built rocketships, spacestations and put men on the moon. There is no cap to our creativity when we make a choice to move forward on something.
You are limitless. You just have to make the choice.
Thomas Edison said, “Most people miss opportunity because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”
And it is work. Life is work. We don’t reach success by sitting on our butt in front of the tv watching Scandal or How To Get Away With Murder or Game of Thrones. Yes those are all amazing shows and I love Shonda Rimes but I will never be her watching her stuff on tv.
Choice is up to me and up to you to decide how your life will go.
Get some clarity.
Take some action.
Get a coach.
You and your life is worth more than you could possibly know. You must reach into yourself and pull out your greatness.
I encourage you to start NOW.
