Your standards can be higher doing this
Raise your standards to a new level of normal. Sounds awesome right? And who wouldn’t want a new level of awesome, epic lifestyle and fabulous business as their new normal?
I’m asking you this…
When was the last time you decided that things just weren’t how you wanted them to be? That your level of normal wasn’t so bad but that you deserve and want more but you just can’t seem to figure out where to start. We all know high performers raise their level of normal continuously.
Raising our level of normal requires knowing what we want and carrying it out to reality. Knowing exactly what you want is the best way to raise your standards. It doesn’t take much, just your willingness to not fall below a certain standard and know that you deserve better, and then of course work towards it daily.
Here’s what I know personally about creating a new normal…
Going through a divorce requires you to create a new normal.
Writing your first book requires a new level of normal.
Moving to a new house requires a new normal.
Developing a documentary requires a new normal.
When I went through all of these things, my divorce, my first book, moving, researching for the documentary, I had to figure out what I really wanted, to get to the next level of me to create my new normal. And it wasn’t easy but I did it. I had a great mentor and coach who held me accountable but also helped challenge me to a greater level of growth. I could have done it alone, but I knew that it would have taken me longer. I knew that going it alone was going to induce overwhelm. I knew working on things that I hadn’t worked on before was going to require someone giving me extra inspiration, maybe some cheer-leading to get to the finish line when things where frustrating and tiring. That is some of what a good mentor and coach can do. They can help you check in and see how far you have come, what else needs to happen in a way that can be difficult to see alone.
But if you decide to go it alone, and think you can handle the obstacles, the fatigue and challenges you will face, here’s what you should think about when creating your new normal.
Ask yourself these three questions:
What do you really want for yourself?
What are you doing to get where you want to be?
Where do you want to be next year in life and business?
Asking yourself better questions is the start to creating your new normal. Most of you will try to do it alone and that’s ok if you want to deal with the overwhelm and frustration by yourself.
But some of you will know the shortcut is with a savvy mentor who will cheer you on. Some of you know that you can get a higher level of confidence working with a mentor or coach and see results faster. Whether it’s me or someone else, it’s smart to work with someone who is aligned with your view of success, on your terms and get the desired outcome that you seek.
Your new normal is waiting for you. Don’t you want a life of epic awesome? Don’t you want a business that allows you the freedom to do all the things you love? Don’t you want to generate more revenue so you can finally work on the projects that you choose to?
